the next posts might be me answering my own question:

D0SEL isn't connected to the DMA port. It shares a buffer chip with the port, but theres no interaction there.

The signal goes to the floppy drive ports and also the keyboard (I think we can safely assume just for the drive light there).

Do the floppy drives do anything with this signal that could be harmful? Still unsure.
