Why don't you simply query the cookie jar for detetcing an STE?
TOS version should not matter, any STE TOS has the cookie jar.
So basically:
- check if the cookie jar exists
- stop if not (this is probably an old STFM)
- get the _MCH cookie
- exit if this doesn't meet your specs (STE)
- run your code :)
