BTW have you ruled out that it's a hardware problem? Does it play ok on emulators? Did you try it on another STE?

As for replacement chips, there's best electronics and a couple of other vendors (b&c should be one of them), they should probably have some items on stock. Before you contact them, try to find the serial number of your shifter chip, and check to see which is the correct one (there was an article on the online mag myatari with infos on this for the mega ste).
