Free memory on a 2MB STE
Posted by: Dbug Oct,07.2009-22:01

I know that XiA already asked for a 1mb machine, but I did not really find a satisfactory answer.
Sure, if you boot from a floppy, without residents, etc... you can be pretty sure of how much memory is free.

But in the standard STE setup using a HDD, you have some residents:
- hard disk driver
- control panel
- perhaps some mouse accelerator
- some alternative file selector
- NVDI perhaps
...
when all this stuff is loaded, if my demo is launched from the desktop, how many bytes can I reasonable expect to have free ?

Thanks :)
Dbug (still trying to find stuff to compress in his demo...)

What's the anti-troll code?
That's your personal code to be able to add comments and messages on the dhs.nu site.
Don't have a code or forgot it? Fix it here.
