Hi!
As far as I remember when studying the falcons schematics some time ago, it's like PeP says, the Videl has 32 datalines (32bit) when reading from the ST-RAM to do screen updates, but the CPU only has 16 datalines (16bit) for all its accesses to/from ST-RAM. IMHO the engineer at atari responsible for this limitation should be subject to a public beating. ;)
