STE video registers
Posted by: Bod/STAX May,04.2005-18:51

Hi. I'm currently working on something for the STE and I'm a little confused about the STE's video set-up. I know that writing to the addresses $fff8205, $fff8207 and $fff8209 has immediate effect and you can make real-time 4 plane distorters or to use hardware scrolling. I want to use the STE's hardware scrolling by writing to the video-base addresses $fff8201, $fff8203 and $fff820d as I only want to offset the screen by 1 line every VBL and these registers would be ideal as they are a "reset value" for the STE and it would only come into effect each frame. I always thought the STE's screen display could be set in these registers on any address as long as it's even, however this just doesn't work. Any takers?
