I imagine that the TT shifter is well capable of showing 240 lines without flipping freqs and do hardcore timings. Just tink of the TT-modes; they are 320x480, 640x480 and 1280x960. It seems much more logic to me that the TT has some sort of double-line mode like the Falcon for the lowres modes, and display start/end settings for the borders, again like the Falcon.
But perhaps these settings are only possible inside the shifter at hardcoded paths. But if there are hidden (non-documented) registers for this it wouldn't surprise me..
