What I had always wished for, but never found, probably because the chip simply can't do it: the ability to change the address in the video buffer on each scanline. That way one could make the spreadpoint demo in overscan...
More realistically, one might be able to make some of the "unstable" effects stable. Eg: 4bit hardscroll in non-overscan. On a 512Mb machine, that would be cool.
