Hi guys, I’m a 6502 Atari 130xe programmer. I now have an 1040 STE 4meg and want to do 68000 programming.
I used to do Amiga 68000 programming a few years ago so I’m pretty familiar with 68000 assembly.
I see that the STE has all the features of the AMIGA 500 with 4096 colours, & 8-bit digital sound.
I’m running STE BASIC and I can’t seem to see any command like screen 0,320,200,lowres,4096 or something similar.
On the Amiga this would put the machine in graphics mode 320x200x4096 colours on screen at once. They called it HAM mode. Hold And Modify.
Is there a way to put the STE in 4096 colour mode or do I have to hit the blitter or shifter directly via machine code?
I just want to display a 4096 colour picture on the STE with no flicker. I could display 256 colour pics on the 130xe with flicker
by mixing graphics 9 and 11 togeather but hopefully I won’t need to do something like that on the STE.
Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.
