FWIW, on Falcon I'd go for:

move.w (a1),(a2)+ ; a1 = texture, a2 = screen
adda.w (a0)+,a1 ; a0 = Texture offsets for the longest scanline

Actually Ray's fatmap describe it all and mentions partly unrolled loops fitting in the CPU cache.
