You should really consider the STFM as the lowest common denominator... I know it doesn't have the lovely 50KHz DMA Stereo, expanded palette or Blitter, but there's probably an order of magnitude more machines around that are STFM compatible than are STe compatible... I can count on one hand the number of games I have encountered that were STE exclusive back in the day... (substation. Obsession, that's it) but there were a few that were STE enhanced (Zero-5, Chaos Engine)
