Re: Sprite records - WHY?

you could be the exception to the rule, i wouldn't contest that at all. but the fact remains that even if these records inpire a few people to do more interesting stuff, they'll still be as boring as a beasts intro to the rest of the planet. i mean, no offense meant, but i'm not even downloading these screens anymore. the whole essence of the screen can be described in three digits, the rest is entirely predictable. and even those three digits are becoming pretty easy to predict for each next release, because the scene has degraded to a point where every single sprite extra is worth a new release, headline, etc. etc. wouldn't you agree that's a little degrading towards people who spend months or even years to make the headlines with innovative stuff? me personally, i'd be ashamed to break a record of ~270 with just 1 sprite, and then announce an update the next day already... next thing you know we'll get a new release for every cpu instruction saved... sorry, but that's just not my definition of scene spirit.
