Re: Sprite records - WHY?

the rules "set" by Leonard through his various sprites screens, and especially in the 268 sprites screen, states that a chip music must be played but doesn't specify which tune.

I guess the SOS tune is used for 3 reasons :

1. it rocks
2. as an hommage to TCB's screen
3. to be in the same conditions as the other sprite screens.

The #3 reason is of critical importance in the case of the wave of the sprites.

Since the tune is delta packed, it's length does not reflect exactly its packed size. The number of variation of the YM registers is more important. You can see a table of the changement of each YM register for the SOS tune in the "fastest way to play ym music on ST" thread on Atari-Forum ( http://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?t=3306 )

All in all, if another tune is made/available and not significantly smaller, it shouldn't hurt to use it since the CPU time would remain extremely close.

Btw the 2bpl background on my tests is more interresting than the usual banner with the nick of the coder.
