OK i figured what i missed on PNGconv (by Troed) : https://github.com/troed/PNGconv
I had to use the "-header" option to produce a valid PI2 file.
Example working command: java -jar PNGconv.jar shphoto.png shphoto.pi2 medium -512 -header
