You're correct ggn, Quantum Paint is a piece of crap to use.
Basicly if I remember correct, it's "tech features" are 1. Flickering palette to simulate 4-bit rgb on ST 2. a new palette per scanline.
Spectrum 512 which was out before Quantum have three palettes per line and is still much more usable than Quantum. Neochrome Master makes Quantum totally redundant if you ask me, it too have a new palette per scanline, STe palette so you don't get the damn flickering and most useful of all; a good set of tools to paint comfortably.
