its been a long time since i looked at this part of maxymiser.

it does indeed sound like some mods have been added to the falcon's audio system.

maxymiser detects an external audio clock and assumes an FDI or other audio box (FA8) has been connected to the falcon. maxymiser configures either the YM output, or the DMA output to go out the first falcon stereo output for high quality recording purposes. on the FDI, this output can be SP/DIF digital.

if the default internal audio clock is used, or the SNDH is played out of the editor, none of this special code is called.

now - the FDI only works with the 44.1/48khz clocks.. but an FA8 or similar might well also work with the internal clock, which could be why you get either the YM or the DMA only on the first channel at all times.

having said all this, the falcon headphone output should have the YM and DMA signals mixed anyway.

any of this tie up with what you are seeing? i never tested with an FA8
