Now, if you ask I start wondering, too ;) No, actually you are right, I used two instances of Steem with Maxymiser and switched between them.
But technically, it is possible to midi-synchronize different machines - gwEm built in a function to do this in Maxymiser. According to what I tried so far, it works not so good with Steem but absolutely great between a PC with music software and an Atari ST with Maxymiser - PC beeing the slave. This should work good with several Ataris, too. So you could easily do 9, 12 or more channel YM-songs as well - in theory! this still has to be explored ond day :)
