Video codec in VideoDB
Posted by: mikro Jan,12.2011-10:15

Hi,

I'd like to ask in public, what do you people think about video codec used in DHS VideoDB? Personally, I hate flash anywhere but currently I have no other option for VDB as html5's <video> here uses H.264 and in a such strange way it works only in Safari (should in Chrome but it doesn't).

Today I've seen this:
http://blog.chromium.org/2011/01/html-video-codec-support-in-chrome.html and I wonder, isn't better to make a switch, too? Chrome, Chromium, Firefox, Konqueror -- all use WebM. Support for one and only and damn minor browser seems to be very ineffective in my eyes :(

Maybe if we scream loud enough, Evil will change his mind ;)
