The battery-change was a success!
After the procedure the clock is now keeping track of time & date.
This way may not be for the faint of heart though; The battery is sealed in a plastic brick which is superglued to the edges of the IC below it.
I managed the task of getting it off by using a solder-iron with a pointy tip at 350 degrees celcius, burning the plastic around the round battery on the right side. There is no hint to where the battery is sealed in so this was a butt-clenching experience.
On the good side, the underlying IC seems to be able to take some serious beating as I scrouched and scarped it a several times while uncovering the battery. ;-)

Alas, some settings made from the CT60 configuration cpx-tool is still not remembered. These include the cpu freq and the boot-order.
I have the V. 1.03c (presumably in flash) on the CT63.
Also, after I've pressed save and then close with ok, a dialog saying: "Unknow flash device" appears.
Any clues?
