What kind of software do you use? (hdd/cdrom driver) Are the devices jumpered correctly? (master/slave) Are they working together in a PC? (I had issues with some old CD-ROM drives that don't want to cooperate with som HDDs) Is the CD-ROM is recognized when no HDD is connected (maybe faulty)?
