Hi Wayne!
Yes, the SuperVidel will improve the graphical performance a lot. This is just a wild guess, but I think those figures you wrote about will be closer to 1000% and (probably much more) with the SuperVidel. This depends on what aspects of the graphics system that the 'GFX' part of Zbench covers, but I assume that its an overall score taking into account everything from memory bandwidth to blitting performance.
Just compare the available bandwidth of 8MB/s for the STRAM on a 25MHz bus to the estimated 100MB/s when accessing our graphics RAM using the 060, and you'll get a clue about the performance difference. If the superblitter is used for copying data within the graphics RAM (as both source and destination), the available bandwidth is closer to 1GB/s...
We're close to ordering a Spartan3 development board from Memec Design. The development board features onboard DDR SDRAM connected to the Spartan3, which is a perfect way for us to test our DDR controller. Since the board also contains expansion ports we can easily connect it to the CT60, and also attach the DAC-board I've already made. So we'll get a complete SuperVidel in building blocks... :)
Regards
Henrik

What's the anti-troll code? That's your personal code to be able to add comments and messages on the dhs.nu site.
Don't have a code or forgot it? Fix it here.
