My falcon's clock chip died and therefore every time it reboots, all the NVRAM/Time settings disappear.
I had a couple of spare DS1887A's so I thought it wasn't a problem to fix. I just removed the old chip and fitted the new one. Then I kept getting messages about not being able to read/write NVRAM. OK, so I took the board back to the bench and carefully re-soldered the chip.
Now the machine won't boot at all. Black screen in 030 mode, CT60 boot picture in 060 mode.
I figure that the NVRAM can now be read, but the contents are junk, so the machine won't boot.
Anyone know of a way to boot so I can reset the NVRAM? (Without desoldering the chip if possible).
