Maybe a problem is in a way how he tries to disable it, I can't imagine any other explanation.. when MP is off, then it's OFF ;-) I used N.AES for years with and without MP..

So, are you sure you use FreeMiNT boot menu to disable that MP? Older kernel versions (1.15.x) are handled by renaming .PRG file (MINTNP.PRG vs MINT.PRG) but newer ones (1.16.x) are handled using boot menu (press shift after MINT.PRG loads)
