Hrmm,
Well I got things running a bit better last night. I managed to compile gaim with only one internal compiler error on the trip through configure and make. (This has pretty much been my test to see if things are working or still screwed).
As for my TOS problems (mouse not working under SingleTOS), they seem to have been caused not by hd-driver but rather by general6.cpx. Why? God only knows. This CPX is causing my mouse clicks to not register and it's completely locking whatever AES I'm running.
However, I am only back to square 1. An almost reasonably working system, but it still crashes mid-compiles which is why I still need another falcon board for testing.
I just hope it's not my 20MHz bus mod that's causing the problem. I have not tried to remove this upgrade yet, however the machine is sitting at 16MHz because it seems to like 20MHz even less.
