You all seem to be keen to fine out what the Hawk is well Here we go.
A computer! but not just any computer.
I have set myself a task. To build a fully upgradable computer system.
I mean fully, this includes the bus which is normally overlooked.
Call me stupid and you may ask why but this is what I enjoy.
With inspiration from mr cubza and ebay where I purchased the documentation for his computer the pheonix060. This sent me on the route where I'm at now and hence the website.
I will be creating a new OS for the Atari machines as a test bed.
This will then be ported to the Hawk.
The idea is to use the traps 10 and 11 so that is wont effect the standard os.
Being modular means should anyone wish to own one of these machines, then the cost can be spread.
I have now built up my equipment and have very little left to get.
The PCBs will be cut using CNC and not photo etched. This means I can do it in house saving a lot of money. Of course if demand is there I can look into it and hammer the cost down.
This is a personal project and with a new nipper on the way! it will take time but I will get there.
If no one is interested I will still be doing it. Your a long time dead and I want an achievement to take with me and have some fun on the way.
Also I will be tring to comply with the ROHS(lead free) regs where possible.
The spec is not confirmed, There are no timescales and no guarantees. But with the right support like I'm already getting it will be sooner.
anyway enough typing its not getting the project done.
