Illegal instruction is possible if the CPU not support the actual frequency. Do you have tried lot of programs ? For example at 72 MHz, I cannot start all tests with Kronos without crashes.

With CT60CONF.CPX 0.99d and the same boot version, you have 4 choices for the cache under TOS.

If you press the ALT key when the ATARI logo arrive and until the SDRAM init arrive, the TOS boot without caches until GENERAL.CPX change this status under the desktop.
