I think it's slow too... ;)
But as you know, we decided to make the EtherNat before finishing the SuperVidel, both due to economical reasons and the fact that the EtherNat would be easier to do.
Right now we're rerouting the EtherNat almost completely, since we found a bug in our data bus routing some time ago. Fixing this needed rerouting so much of the board that we thought we had to do most of it from scratch. But the USB and LAN external signals are intact.
We're not quite happy with the ethernet connector sitting on the main EtherNat board. Instead it should be mounted in the falcon case, with some kind of wire going to the main board. The problem so far has been to find a suitable wire, since 100 Mbit ethernet has impedance requirements on the RX and TX signal pairs. We've now found a cable, but the question is what it will cost, and mounting the ethernet connector in the falcon case, with an extra small PCB being necessary, will also add to the final price. So which way do you want it? :) I can't really tell how much extra this solution will cost yet...
This would hopefully shrink the main board on the right side by a centimeter or so, which is needed by some people.
On the other hand, if we let the ethernet connector stay on the main board, we'll have to find a place for it so it's not in the way of the internal hard drive.
The SuperVidel project is definately not dead. Believe me, this is the project we really want to finish. If it get's done before the end of this year is hard to say. But as it looks now, I must be realistic and say no. But to speed things up a bit, we'll leave the extra functionality out for the first release, like the 3D and MPEG replay support. Only the super Blitter is a must, I think. And the extra resolutions, of course.
