well, yes, you should have switch connected (not soldered) via female connector, so you can eaqsily switch between two modes...
magic installation sometimes takes time and can be frustrating :>D
the message simply means that required drivers are not installed or that magic is not aware of the folder they are installed to...
hope you have installation doc and doing all by it...installation program setup.app should do most of the job...
