After having a closer look at Centscreen, it does appear to be setup correctly. If I double click the centscreen binary that is placed in AUTO, it does seem like the 800x608 resolution is used. (XaAES will of course still think it is running in 600x480, since a reboot would obviously be needed to make the AES aware of the resolution change)
Anyway, if I set video = 27, XaAES boots up in 640x480, thus clearly ignoring the Centscreen setting.
Am I missing something obvious here?
