PLX can perform partial convertions it's good for 32 aligned data, but's it's incompatible with ATI 8 bits if you want pixel 0 in byte 0, pixel 1 in byte 1, pixel 2 in byte 3 and pixel 4 in byte 4, so conversions are done by the Radeon.
Read the PCI BIOS doc for more info about byte swapping.
PCI zones are always in little endian, it's the fastest choice if you want write (or read) to the graphic memory without accel functions.
