What do you mean by firmware ?
JTAG cable is for update hardware CPLD, and you don't need to update hardware.
Rodolphe flashed a TOS too old (boot alpha releases 1.04), now the TOS is near that the final release, I can send it by mail if you want. But the boot 2.0 beta 1 release from end of June must works with NVDI 5.03 excepted that you must use boot screen.
For update software (the TOS/boot/drivers) you can use Flash060 in 030 or 060 mode.
