My builds are officially available + they would be from outdated sources, so definitely use Didier's latest snapshots (available from atari forge).
About Radeon7000, it depends on your config. For example, I was unable to get HD resolution because VGA detection doesn't work properly (in opposite to DVI). So if you're ok with 1024x768 and some experimenting for right/optimal values, you can use xaaes/mint etc with no problem. There are some minor issues but nothing fatal.
