Hi,
i have made pretty much the same experience, perhaps some things to comment.
N_AES works without NVDI, be sure to have the desired resolution saved to newdesk.inf. In case Jinnee has garbled icons, go to change icons dialogue, change one icon and thus force Jinnee to rebuild the "icon cache" (it must have it somewhere). That usually works for me.
If you don't use NVDI, you can use Aniplayer with correct colors.
Configure MyAES.TOS as an AUTO boot application under TOS, save desktop and boot MiNT with "execgem" option enabled in /etc/ttytab. Then MyAES runs Aniplayer fast and with correct colors.
But of course, without NVDI, there is many apps not working.
All this experience is based on official "boot 1.04a" CTPCI TOS.
