CTPCI - my first attempts
Posted by: mac-falcon Apr,28.2010-11:07

Okay, thanks to Ektus I already got a CTPCI and yesterday I received my Radeon 92050/128 MB, too. Installing was no problem as I used the excellent manual Patrice provides on his site (http://pmandin.atari.org). Even guiding the wires under the CT60 wasnīt that big problem I feared about :)

For plain TOS the CTPCI/Radeon was plug and play. Sure I used a cleanboot for that. After a little wait (30-40 seconds), TOS came up in 1024x768x16bit. Change video mode works perfect up to HUUUUGE resolutions I never thought of before ;)

After a little messing around with xaaes/myaes and nvdi I finally managed to:

- get xaaes working (easymint installation with latest xaaes and teradesk copied in)

- get myaes working (I start it out of xaaes... if I start it from the bash - I have login - I get the screen messed up - no idea why

- get aniplayer to do video playback (aniplayer isnīt displayed in the right colors, nor is the video)

- get QED working

- get scummVM working - slow (due to NVDI output I think) and in window

- get Highwire working - excellent!!!

N_AES (with Jinnee as desktop) didnīt work for me. It boots, but screen is garbled, so itīs without any use (maybe Jinnee Problem). Plain TOS + NVDI also gives me garbled screen.

But I can tell you that myaes looks amazing on Radeon!

Well thereīs hope I think :) The future of MiNT/TOS computing on original hardware just has begun!
