SERIOUS !
Posted by: Rodolphe Mar,12.2004-19:33

You were a majority here telling me that you wanted to stay on 68K ASM and not migrate to PPC ASM (all is to be learnt again I know !) and now the first ColdFire V4e chip is announced...
This time, I have to read all the sheets about 5475/74 and have a big brainstorming ...
I need the advice of some developers about the coldfire performances we can expect with 68K emulation that is to be done...
If some dev want to help me...
I get the motorola software about emulation and some sources free. I can send them to those who want to have a look.
It may be very quick to design a 5475 small board to plug on CT60 and allow a crew of developers to design the emulation of the TOS and the software running under TOS. Same for Magic and others OS on atari machines. There are two approachs : live emulation and converter patching a source. For executable for which we cannot get the sources, the first method is a necessity I think.

It is time to place order for sample at motorola after signing a NDA because samples are planned for third quarter 2004.
This get enough time to design the board and design the emulation...

Thanks for your attention.
