The design on the CTPCI & CT63 were deliberately kept seperate for people who re-house their Falcons in PC Cases.

I dare say that some will mount the Falcon vertically while other prefer horizontal ( Depends on the Case I suppose ) and the use of the CTPCI on the cables allows the choice of how the user mounts their Falcons in cases or indeed not.

A Single board will force the use of fixed cases and will also cause major problems when inserting / removing PCI cards from the CTPCI slots.

Personally I think that having only one board will be a major problem in itself and cause untold other problems.
