Re: STE & Falcon DMA sound

Hi,

> Falcon might be different, I don't know if there's a FIFO and what is its size, so seamless playback can be a little more complicated and this would explain why you get "clicks" when turning DMA off/on on falcon (if the FIFO is not as big as on STE).

From what I know, the Falcon has a 2x32 bytes FIFO in the crossbar.
One for DMA play and one for DMA record (I've seen this at least in the falcon030 developer guide, there's a shema which shows these 2 FIFO.

It works nearly like the STE (start/stop DMA, loop) but for both play and record.

There's an extra address :

$FF893C|byte |CODEC-Status BIT 1 0|R/W
| |Left Channel Overflow ----------------------------' ||
| |Right Channel Overflow -----------------------------'|

But I don't know really what it's useful at.

The 2 Falcon FIFO are not implemented into hatari's crossbar emulation code yet.

Laurent
