Great reply from Evil, couldn't have put it better myself :) I should add that if you disable the Timer B on the middle channel then maxYMiser will try to make a sound without the timer, so you at least hear something. It gives you a chance to move things around. Putting drums and bass on this channel is a very good idea like Evil says.

Honestly, you can make some really good stuff just using one timer. For a demo, its all you really need. It gives you a chance to show off some YM effects, but keep the CPU usage fairly low, and also use fewer timers. With native STe DMA samples too, you can easily get a good sounding tune.

The great songs by Iso/Sentry were all done with just one timer. With some planning, theres alot you can do.
