I had a quick look - seems to copy a portion of $e00000 onwards to $940 (to patch some addresses or something), then stores that address to $940. Also a read breakpoint to $4f2 says it's never read! Nonsensical, probably test code that was never removed!

Yes, forgot about $4, software can't change that so it's prolly the smallest (code size) solution :).
