Doug, thanks for reminding me about them. In fact, it's the MR part of SR which does that, there are options what to do when moving from A/B (and when using MACR instruction, i.e. rounding).
In my opinion it can be damn useful, but perhaps same as you, I was afraid to use it ;-) There's nothing wrong with enabling up/downscalling and then put it into the normal mode again.
