Bugaboo Falcon RAM prob
Posted by: Simon Sunnyboy / Paradize Sep,11.2005-09:46

Hi ya,

a few moments ago I discovered a strange thing on my 4MB Falcon.
I'm running out of memory while coding on ST-size (<1MB) projects in Turbo Assembler/Bugaboo.

I have only minor stuff resident, XCONTROL, FPATCH, a custom fileselct (which I could get of and HSMODEM tools), GFABASIC reports 3,5MB free which seems very reasonable.

Now I load Bugaboo resident into memory and then run Turbo Assembler. I can work from within TA as usual and even click assemble and assembler in to files etc., but when I assemble directly into Bugaboo, the following happens.
Bugaboo say "Out of memory" and when I click INFO in Bugabo, it reports the followign numbers:

start of debugger: $6DA7C
end of debugger: $9F0E4

(which sounds fully sane to me!)

now those:

start of free RAM: $3C9400
end of free RAM: $400000

(which in sum is merely 256K free)
and I don't think Turbo Assembler is that wrong? (Scy's patched version actually)

Can anyone help or further elaborate on this?

With this strange constraint it is impossible to work on true color or ST c2p stuff.

thanks,
Simon Sunnyboy / Paradize
