Thanks for the reply GGN.

My routine actually varies the amount of bullets to set-up from one to five bullets before exiting the bullet set-up code. This is because all bullets are created from the same set of structures for the player.

For example when the force pod is detached from the players ship and has the highest weapon setting four bullets are created from the force (one moving up, one down, one up and right and one down and right) plus one from the player's ship.

Also it doesn't have to be just the bog-standard bullets it could be the circle laser the snake like lasers or the powered-up beams. The relevant structure just points to a different sized sprite and a different movement routine to move them at different speeds.
