my question was due to comparison 68030 vs FPU timing, which showed that that 030 is a bit faster that fpu e.g:
muls.w d0, d1 - 44 cycles
fmul - 80 cycles (best case)
divs.l d0, d1 - 90 cycles
fdiv - 124 cycles (best case)
as far as I remember correctly fpu needs to do conversion integer <-> floating point - additional 60 or 100 cycles
so where is the catch? :)
I try to prepare small production for TT (maybe 3D, bump mapping, phong shading), and I wonder whether or not to use FPU
