We use triple buffer for scenes where the framerate changes alot "naturally" as the complexity of the scene changes. Under these circumstances you will not notice the jerky camera.
For ST effects running at constant 1.5 VBL's we try to put in as much as possible to reach 1.99 VBL's instead and use double buffer.
