I did it using the schematic on http://atariamiga.free.fr/sourisps2_e.php
I wired the adapter right into a new optical Logitech PS/2 mouse.
Cheap and easy - if you find someone to program you that 16F84 chip (i have a universal programmer, so it was a no-brainer for me).
