this is a neat idea but i think more 'formal' organization/promotion would be helpful. something like abbuc summer competition for 8bits, where you have guaranteed what you'll get and when and from whom etc.
this concept was proven to work on 8bit scene (remember yoomp? ;-), maybe it could work in 16/32bit scene as well, who knows.
