You will see that the HBL is even more unstable with SID-voice music than Timer B is. To make the HBL run you need to put the SR to #$2100 (correct me someone if I remember wrong), otherwise it is masked out.
The HBL also have other disadvantages; it starts at visible area, so a colour change will be visible, and it will generate interups on all scanlines no matter if you need it or not.
