thanks mikro and CiH. it seems to be definately something between 300-400k. the desktop in TOS 2.06 really uses up extra space. 1/2meg absolutely sucks :)
its true you can run stuff from auto to get extra memory, but then one can't call system things like the GEM file selector etc.
