Thanks for the report. Hmm.
The demo allocates roughly 58.5MB (plus possibly some stray allocations, so say 59MB in total). What you are reporting may be due to rendering code occasionally reading outside the textures; switching to a 128MB memory module provides enough headroom for those reads to remain within "legal" memory.
Those occasional read-outside-texture would probably manifest themselves in the occasional pixel with incorrect color (likely color 0) in the 3d scenes.
I should do something to quench those stray accesses, but not sure when (it may take a while).
