I do feel sorry for anyone who thinks they won't make the deadline. Yet I also see the point of view of people who have made possible sacrifices in what they believe they can achieve in their screens by being more realistic with their planning.
Personally I don't like to see deadlines being pushed. If it has to be the case then one fair way to do it is to give an extra fixed length of time to whoever wants it but exclude them from the vote sheet. That way they still get to be a part of this true piece of history but less reward for having an advantage over the others.
You could say push the prizes further down to lower places if the high places were late entries, but for most it's the fame not the prizes. Having to be 2nd place to someone who had extra time to make a better screen would surely piss most people off!
Hey, but it's not my compo ;) & I don't suppose Anders would like to have to rush those possible late screens in at the last minute. But it would be good to get some kind of clarification for everyone as even a hint of an extended deadline can make a coder feel more lazy ;)
